Amanda, your stories and reflections have touched my heart and hit home again and again for me in recent years. I'm delighted to find you here on Substack this morning. I'm excited about sharing your wise and winsome words with my people ...
Thank you. The first book I recall buying was a biography of Daniel Boone. I was in the second grade! And the cover had him with a wide-brim hat (not a coonskin one, like Fess Parker wrote in the TV show that was popular then). I also had a Daniel Boone TV lunchbox! And on the provision side, I've been canning some tomato soup for winter!
"the wisdom to know what is essential..." Love this simple phrase. It feels like that is what I'm always re-learning. Glad you've made your way over to Substack! I so appreciate your writing!
Oof. That poem! Thank you for your reflections.
I know. EVERY TIME I read it, it takes my breath away!

We love that area and was just in Boone! Stayed in Beech Mountain.
Oh that’s such a pretty place! Glad you got to visit.
