I absolutely LOVE this post and the idea of the table talks. We have this written rule at our very large church to not discuss political matters with one another, but this idea you have at Boone church of using it as the loving practice grounds for learning how to disagree or even further our case is brilliant. I'm going to be sharing this post with my church leaders. Question for you and my fellow readers here. Do you also share your differing opinions with other well-known authors here on Substack? Do you present your arguments here on pages of popular authors who you might work with? I ask because just today I received a blog by a well-known substack author and disagreed with many points she was making, but wasn't sure my differing opinions, even if presented in grace and love, would be respected.

Thanks for reading! I always welcome anyone offering pushback or another opinion here in the comments of my posts, and I'll try to respond as I am able! I don't typically initiate dialogue like that with other authors here partly because of bandwidth (I'm home with my little girls most of the day!), but also because screen engagement isn't my favorite way to discuss difficult issues. I'd rather talk in person. If I'm friends and face to face with an author, I would certainly have no qualms about discussing an issue we might disagree about. Just don't typically do it on here!

That's a good insight about the difference between online and in-person discussions. I like it a lot and I think will help keeps things clear. XO
